Chief Engineer

Strato has been participating in the industry study of in-train forces and how they relate to lading and car damage, and train derailments. We have been presenting at various technical conferences last year and this year, not as a sales pitch but as an educational presentation on how draft systems are designed for yard impacts yet directly influence train handling. Please review the Wistia video clips (password: GLADHAND) for a snapshot of some of our work.

Personal Bio:
Jonathan Sunde is the Chief Engineer for Strato, Inc where he has technical oversight for all draft and brake systems. His 11-year railroad industry career started at Ellcon-National in Greenville, SC, working on brake systems and other freight car components. His ongoing interest for root-cause solutions has generated 18 current US patents and a seat on the AAR Damage Prevention and Freight Claims Committee. Jonathan holds a BSME from Clemson University, where he learned that there is such a thing as too much running and that he would rather be sailing.
